What is Vipassana?

Vipassana, which means to see things as they really are, is one of India's most ancient techniques of meditation. It was taught in India more than 2500 years ago as a universal remedy for universal ills, an Art of Living. Vipassana Course Information

To learn Vipassana Meditation one needs to attend a residential, ten-day course at one of the 120 worldwide centers, during which one learns the basics of the method, sufficient for practice in daily life. To apply for a course and to understand the requirements, please read the Code of Discipline and then find a convenient course date in the Course Schedule.

Center Location

The Hong Kong Vipassana Meditation Center (HKVMC) is located in the quiet village of Hang Tau in Sheung Shui, New Territories. It is accessible by car or the MTR East Rail Line. For more information, please visit the Hong Kong Center Page.

Course Finances

Courses are run solely on a donation basis. There are no charges for the courses, not even to cover the cost of food and accommodation. All expenses are met by donations from those who have completed a course, experienced the benefits of Vipassana, and wish to give others the same opportunity. Neither the teacher nor the assistant teachers receive remuneration; they and those who organise the courses volunteer their time.
